While our formation was announced surrounding the Orlando Nightclub Massacre, we remain active. In fact, we have spent the last 6-8 months formulating action items that will allow us to make serious strides in our mission to “serve as a liaison between the LGBTQ community and the Mayor. [To] provide viable recommendations on policies that will advance the social, economic, and political issues of all LGBTQ Houstonians and citizens in the City of Houston, including ending discrimination.”

We spent 2016 and 2017 in the organizing and listening phase of our work. Now it is time for us to get into serious action. We have held a Town Hall that served as an open forum for the LGBTQ community to have the ear of the Mayor, and we held a vigil on the one-year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy.

At this time, we are in need of support to bring continue to bring these initiatives to life. The board received no funding either from the General Fund or any other City source.
